Job summary

Corning Inc. in Corning, NY, is seeking a Machine Learning Modeling Engineer to develop advanced ML and AI solutions that support product design and process innovation.

You will provide analytics, modeling, and software development support to solve technical problems and strengthen Corning’s competitive edge. You will partner with scientists and engineers to define requirements, prepare data, build and validate models, and communicate results to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in engineering, CS, mathematics, statistics, or related discipline with ML/AI specialization.
• Background in physics, chemistry, or engineering.
• Experience preparing data for machine learning and performing exploratory data analysis independently.
• Deep knowledge of ML techniques including traditional ML, DL, CNNs, RNNs, generative models, and RL.
• Practical experience using ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Familiarity with generative AI tools and frameworks.
• Strong programming in Python.
• Comfortable working in Windows, Linux environments and Databricks.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with scientists, engineers, and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop advanced machine learning, deep learning, and generative AI models in support of research, engineering, and product development initiatives.
• Partner with scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to define project requirements and translate into modeling solutions.
• Prepare data, perform exploratory data analysis, and develop, test, and refine ML models across development stages.
• Interpret modeling results and communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
• Support software development and computational modeling efforts related to data analytics and ML.
• Research and improve applicable AI/ML technologies and expand Corning’s AI/ML capabilities.
• Write and maintain technical docs, provide user training, and mentor new engineers.
• Collaborate across teams to deliver scalable analytics and ML solutions.
