You will work on ranking, recommendations, and NLP across discovery, ads, and search, applying data-driven insights to real products.

Candidates should have a Master's in CS or related field, strong ML background, and proficiency with Hadoop/Spark and ML frameworks.

Qualifications

• Master's in CS, ML, NLP, or related field required.
• Experience in machine learning including ranking, NLP, or recommendations.
• Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop/Spark) and scalable real-time systems.
• Proficiency in at least one systems language (Java, C++, Python) or an ML framework.
• Ability to design agent-first codebases and autonomous learning.
• Strong critical thinking for validating AI-generated outputs.
• Comfort iterating on prompts and AI-assisted workflows.
• Experience in research and analytical problem solving.
• Strong communication and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to cutting‑edge research in ML/AI for Pinterest problems
• Collect, analyze, and synthesize findings from data to build data-driven models
• Write clean, efficient, and sustainable code
• Use ML, NLP, graph analysis to solve modeling and ranking problems across discovery, ads and search
• Design, build, test models to predict engagement for notifications
• Build content recommendation systems for push, email, and in‑app notifications
• Work on state‑of‑the‑art large‑scale applied machine learning projects
• Scope and independently solve moderately complex problems
