About The Role

We are seeking a talented and motivated individual to join our team as a foundational member of the EdgeRunner Research organization. In this role, you will be instrumental in building the core infrastructure, libraries, and codebases that support our advanced AI models and data processing pipelines. Your work will directly impact the development and deployment of secure, high-performance AI systems at the tactical edge. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in building scalable data processing systems, distributed training environments, and complex training architectures such as distillation and reinforcement learning. You will be responsible for developing compute kernels, managing large-scale evaluations, and implementing advanced quantization and compression techniques. Your contributions will enable our models to operate efficiently in resource-constrained environments while maintaining high accuracy and robustness.

Qualifications

Qualified candidates must possess an active TS/SCI security clearance; strong candidates will have an active clearance. U.S. citizenship is required by federal law for security clearance eligibility. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in developing and maintaining codebases related to scalable data processing, distributed training, or model optimization. Expertise in one or more of the following areas is highly desirable: large-scale data pipelines, distributed training architectures, reinforcement learning environments, compute and cluster management, version control for data and models, kernel development, quantization, compression, and large-scale evaluation methodologies. Candidates should demonstrate self-motivation, initiative, and the ability to operate independently while working collaboratively within a fast-paced, innovative environment. A strong understanding of translating business objectives into technical solutions is essential, along with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to ambiguity.

Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include designing and implementing scalable data acquisition and processing pipelines, developing and optimizing distributed model training frameworks, and creating specialized training architectures such as distillation and reinforcement learning gyms. You will work on developing compute kernels optimized for edge deployment, managing versioning of data, models, and pipelines, and performing large-scale evaluations to ensure model robustness and efficiency. Additionally, you will contribute to the development of quantization and compression techniques to enhance model performance in resource-constrained environments. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will translate complex technical requirements into practical solutions, support model deployment, and continuously improve our infrastructure to meet evolving operational needs.
