Staff Machine Learning Engineer | Remote US | Up to $230k + Equity

We're working with a growing healthtech scale-up that's looking for a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to design, build and deploy sophisticated machine learning systems into production.

This is a hands-on role focused on applied machine learning, Python and production ML systems, working closely with software and data engineers to take complex ML challenges from initial research through to deployment, with significant technical ownership.

What you'll be working on

• Designing, developing and deploying production-grade machine learning models and algorithms.
• Building scalable ML systems, integrating models with APIs, data pipelines and backend services.
• Developing and evaluating ML approaches to complex problems involving large datasets and behavioural patterns.
• Experimenting with emerging ML techniques and translating research into practical, production-ready solutions.
• Driving technical decisions around model development, experimentation and deployment, collaborating across engineering and data teams.

What they're looking for

• 8+ years of experience designing, building and deploying machine learning systems, with a strong track record of production delivery.
• Strong proficiency in Python, including production software engineering practices, testing and version control.
• Experience developing ML models and integrating them into larger production software systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS or Azure, alongside databases, APIs and data processing.
• Strong understanding of applied machine learning, with experience in NLP, transformers, embeddings or recommendation systems beneficial.
