About The Role

We are seeking a highly pragmatic, results-driven Machine Learning (ML) Engineer to join our newly established US Data team at Bet365. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for building reliable, automated infrastructure that powers our machine learning lifecycle. Your primary mission is to operationalize and scale models developed by our data science team, transforming prototypes into robust, production-grade systems with high velocity. The ideal candidate will focus on developing maintainable, automated solutions that prioritize pragmatism over over-engineering, demonstrating a passion for automation, software engineering excellence, and MLOps practices. You will report directly to the Data Science Team Leader and collaborate closely with the US AgentOps Team Lead, responsible for agentic and model orchestration platforms, as well as our UK technical excellence center. This role acts as a bridge between model development and reliable platform engineering, ensuring seamless deployment, monitoring, and scaling of machine learning models in production environments.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience as an ML Engineer, Data Engineer, or Software Engineer with a focus on deploying, monitoring, and scaling machine learning systems in production environments.
  • A pragmatic, proactive approach to system design, emphasizing speed, reliability, and business value over complex infrastructure.
  • Strong Python programming skills, with a solid understanding of software engineering patterns, API development, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Vertex AI, Cloud Build, and related GCP tools.
  • Practical experience with containerization (Docker) and container orchestration tools such as GKE.
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform.
  • Experience with real-time streaming tools such as Apache Kafka or GCP Pub/Sub.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts for diverse audiences, including data scientists and product leads.
Responsibilities
  • Own the deployment of machine learning models to production, building and maintaining scalable, low-latency prediction endpoints using GCP Vertex AI.
  • Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD/CT pipelines for machine learning workflows utilizing Vertex AI Pipelines, Cloud Build, and other GCP tools to ensure seamless model updates and deployments.
  • Set up automated monitoring and alerting frameworks, such as Vertex AI Model Monitoring, to track data drift, model performance, and system health in real-time.
  • Champion best practices for software engineering within the data science team, including robust unit testing, containerization, version control, and automation of deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, the Data Science Team Leader, and the AgentOps Team Lead, to accelerate deployment cycles, streamline operational workflows, and maintain high deployment velocity.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve infrastructure, automation tools, and deployment strategies to enhance system reliability and scalability.
