Job summary

Shaw Industries Group, Inc. is seeking a Machine Handler for the 3rd shift in South Pittsburg, Tennessee. The role focuses on inspecting wood planks, puttying defects, and preparing shipments by strapping pallets. You will also keep the work area clean and support the production line with timely tasks.

Responsibilities include coordinating with supervisors and technicians, moving carts and racks for line operation, and assisting in other areas as needed. Training on safety protocols is required.

• Putty defects as defined by product specifications.
• Communicate quality or mechanical problems or concerns to supervisors, lead, or technicians.
• Help strap pallets of material for shipment or storage.
• Housekeeping duties that are required.
• When running styles 0299W and 0300W on the line: move the cart and pallet rack into position on the line to run order.
• When order is completed move the cart and pallet rack to the 5S staging location.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
• Other duties as requested by Lead or Supervisor.
• Non-Essential Duties: Maintain clean and safe work area.

Putty defects as defined by product specifications. Communicate quality or mechanical problems or concerns to supervisors, lead, or technicians. Help strap pallets of material for shipment or storage. Housekeeping Duties that are required. When running styles 0299W and 0300W on the line: The cart and pallet rack must be moved into position on the line to run order. When order is completed move the cart and pallet rack to the 5S staging location. Assist in other areas as needed Other duties as requested by Lead or SupervisorNon-Essential Duties:Maintain clean and safe work area Must be a team player Take an active role in committees Cross train for other jobs on the Rough Mill line.Physical Requirements:Must be able to bend, squat, and stoop several times a day. Must be able to stand for 8 – 12 hours a day. Must be able to climb stairs several times through the day. Must be able to assist in lifting up to 35 lbs. several times a day. Must be able to lift 15 - 20 lbs. on a regular basis throughout the day. Must be able to handle the stress of meeting goals and production requirements. Must be able to visualize defects in the product. Must be able to visualize color defects in the product.Other Requirements:Basic reading, writing, and math ability. Must be capable of learning and performing additional operations Must be capable of being trained on current computer systems and software.Training Requirements:On the job training Must have all OSHA, SAFE, SMS, and plant specific training.Tool, Equipment, & Material Requirements:Safety Glasses PPE listed on JHASafety & Security Requirements:Must comply with all required OSHA, SAFE, and plant specific safety rules and regulations.
