Job summary

Shaw Industries in Pittsburg, TN is seeking a Machine Handler for the 3rd shift on the Rough Mill line to inspect, putty and strap wood products to maximize yield. The role requires standing 8–12 hours, lifting up to 20 lbs, and cooperating with supervisors to maintain quality.

The position includes on-the-job training, OSHA/SAFE/plant safety rules, and cross-training across related tasks. Work involves moving carts and pallets, housekeeping, and supporting the line with 0299W/0300W styles.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Inspect unfinished wood planks for defects as defined by product specifications.
• Putty defects as defined by product specifications.
• Communicate quality or mechanical problems or concerns to supervisors, lead, or technicians.
• Help strap pallets of material for shipment or storage.
• Housekeeping duties as required.
• Move cart and pallet rack into position on the line when running styles 0299W and 0300W; return to 5S staging after order completion.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
• Cross train for other jobs on the Rough Mill line.

When running styles 0299W and 0300W on the line: The cart and pallet rack must be moved into position on the line to run order. When order is completed move the cart and pallet rack to the 5S staging location. Assist in other areas as needed Other duties as requested by Lead or SupervisorNon-Essential Duties:Maintain clean and safe work area Must be a team player Take an active role in committees Cross train for other jobs on the Rough Mill line.Physical Requirements:Must be able to bend, squat, and stoop several times a day. Must be able to stand for 8 - 12 hours a day. Must be able to climb stairs several times through the day. Must be able to assist in lifting up to 3 5 lbs. several times a day. Must be able to lift 15 - 20 lbs. on a regular basis throughout the day. Must be able to handle the stress of meeting goals and production requirements. Must be able to visualize defects in the product. Must be able to visualize color defects in the product.Other Requirements:Basic reading, writing, and math ability.
