Job summary

Metalcraft of Mayville is seeking a Machine Center Operator for the 2nd shift in West Bend, WI. You will operate a CNC machine to produce machined parts, ensure quality, and maintain records. Some experience is preferred, with training offered for the right candidate.

Core hours are Monday through Friday, 2:30pm to 11pm, with overtime possible based on needs. The role requires good communication, teamwork, and attention to detail, plus knowledge of blueprints.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to efficiently work in a team and coordinate with other departments.
• Detail-oriented with ability to multi-task.
• Knowledge of blueprints and specifications for machinery.
• Experience operating lathes and mills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces.
• Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting operations; taking measurements and replacing worn tools.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures.
• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance and following manufacturer instructions.
• Documents actions by maintaining production and quality logs.
• Updates job knowledge by reading technical publications and participating in opportunities.

Overview

Reporting to the Machine Center Manager, the Machine Center operator produces machined parts by operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies. Some experience preferred but willing to train the right candidate. Core hours: M-F, 2:30pm-11pm. Overtime can happen depending on the needs.

Responsibilities

• Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
• Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; calling for repairs.
• Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.
• Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
• Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge and Abilities:

• Experience operating Lathes and Mills is highly preferred.
