Responsibilities

  • Assemble custom machinery and conveyors using blueprints and work orders.
  • Fit, align, adjust, and install mechanical components with hand/power tools.
  • Install and wire motors, sensors, switches, controls, and electrical components.
  • Test equipment and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues.
  • Inspect workmanship for quality and proper operation.
  • Record labor hours and materials on work orders.
  • Communicate shortages, discrepancies, and potential delays.
  • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Shipping to meet schedules.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow safety policies.

Description

Wardcraft Industries is looking for a dependable, mechanically inclined Machine Builder/Assembler to join our team. This hands-on position is responsible for assembling, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting custom machinery and conveyor systems.

The ideal candidate takes pride in producing quality work, can read mechanical drawings and blueprints, and enjoys working with others to complete projects accurately and on time.

  • Assemble custom machinery, conveyors, and related components using blueprints, mechanical drawings, work orders, and specifications.
  • Fit, align, adjust, and install mechanical components using hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment.
  • Install and wire motors, sensors, switches, controls, and other electrical components.
  • Assist with testing completed equipment and performing basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure proper assembly, operation, and quality.
  • Accurately record labor hours and materials to the appropriate work orders.
  • Communicate material shortages, drawing discrepancies, quality concerns, and possible production delays.
  • Work with Production, Engineering, and Shipping to complete projects according to schedule.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and a clean and organized work area.
  • Follow all company safety policies and required personal protective equipment practices.
  • Perform other duties and assist with special projects as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, assembly drawings, and work orders.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical machine components.
  • Experience safely using hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math and take accurate measurements.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Work Environment

While performing this job, the employee regularly works in a manufacturing environment and may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, electrical components, vibration, fumes, airborne particles, metalworking fluids, and coolant. The work environment may be loud and may experience seasonal temperature changes, including heat during the summer and cold during the winter.

The employee must wear required personal protective equipment and follow all applicable Wardcraft safety policies and MIOSHA requirements.

  • Use hands and fingers to handle, position, assemble, and operate tools, parts, and equipment.

  • Communicate and hear sufficiently to exchange information and recognize instructions and workplace warnings.
  • Lift, carry, push, pull, or move materials and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds, with assistance or material-handling equipment when appropriate.

The position requires close vision, distance vision, color recognition, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
