SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Machine Builder is responsible for fitting and assembling components according to assembly drawings, manuals, engineering memos, sketches and/or knowledge of machine construction. This position requires a strong technical ability and is for a motivated individual who enjoys a variety of responsibility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Verifies conformance of parts to bill of material and drawings, using measuring instruments, such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers.
  • Machine assembly from bill of material and drawings.
  • Assemble and verify a product without detail drawings or tolerances.
  • Assembling pneumatic and hydraulic circuits from drawings.
  • Perform electrical wiring of control panels.
  • Perform machining of parts and assembly throughout the build process.
  • Machine start-up and packaging.

REQUIRED SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND EXPERIENCE

Any combination of education and experience providing the required skill and knowledge for successful job performance will be considered. Typical qualifications would be:

  • High school, GED, or related degree, formal training, or certifications
  • 5 years of mechanical assembly experience or a minimum or 5 years’ experience in mechanical fields such as mechanical assembly, machine repair, millwright, industrial mechanic, rigger or related mechanical experience.
  • Ability to read mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic drawings.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Suite, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of proper use with hand tools
  • Knowledge of basic math skills: ratios, weights, metric system
  • Knowledge of machining skills: lathe, mill, cutting tools, Hand Drilling, etc.
  • Experience with basic safety protocols including proper rigging and lifting practices, forklift, crane, manlift.
  • Basic knowledge of Bearing and Ball screw assembles.
  • Solid working knowledge of assembling mechanical components with good understanding of fits (press fits, slip fits)
  • Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Capable of reading measuring devices and drawings
  • This position must meet Export Control Compliance requirements, therefore a "US Person" as defined by 22.C.F.R. is required.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

Travel may be required to customer facilities in support of equipment repair, modification, or installation.

  • Typically sits for extended periods at a computer workstation.
  • May access and work in the manufacturing plant.
  • While performing the duties of this job, employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, and airborne particles.
  • The employee may be exposed to vibration.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • May be required to travel to other site locations during the workday.
  • May be required to work weekends to meet department and business demands.
  • Work with safe manufacturing processes and understand that eyewear is mandatory in the manufacturing area.
  • Knows that safety shoes are recommended in the manufacturing area.

  • Must be able to lift and move up to 35lbs, occasionally lift and move objects up to 50lbs.
