Job summary

Dana Incorporated is seeking a skilled Journeyman machine tool builder to rebuild, repair, and install complex tools within our Warren, MI operations. You will support manufacturing by maintaining precision equipment and leading hands-on tool room activities.

The role requires extensive experience, forklift certification, and a solid understanding of hydraulic, electric, and pneumatic control systems, plus the ability to read detailed prints.

Qualifications

• Journeyman’s machine tool builder or equivalent experience (minimum of eight years).
• Forklift operator license.
• Basic knowledge of hydraulic, electric and pneumatic control systems.
• Ability to read component and assembly prints.

Responsibilities

• Rebuild, repair, and install complete machine tools and assemblies; support manufacturing operations.
• Tear down and assemble machine tools and major subassemblies.
• Perform “schedule B” functions to determine rebuild requirements.
• Specify components and assemblies required to rebuild equipment.
• Troubleshoot problems and recommend process/design solutions.
• Set, tram, and align heads, fixtures, and tooling.
• Operate tool room equipment to recondition components.
• In plant installation and service; report progress.
• Attend meetings for new launches and projects; assist in delegation and job analysis.
• Address safety issues plant-wide.

Job Duties And Responsibilities

• The individual selected for this role will rebuild, repair, and install complete machine tools and component assemblies. Support manufacturing operations as requested.
• Tear down and assemble machine tools and major subassemblies, i.e., heads, fixtures, spindles, slides, part handling, hydraulic, and mechanical units.
• Perform “schedule B” functions to determine rebuild requirements.
• Specify components and assemblies required to rebuild equipment.
• Troubleshoot problems and recommend process/design solutions.
• Set, tram, and align heads, fixtures, and tooling.
• Operate a broad range of tool room equipment to recondition and modify components.
• Lend technical assistance to other departments as required.
• In plant installation and service.
• Accurately report process time via Realtrac system.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
• Attend meetings for new launches and projects
• Assist in delegation as well as job analysis
• Address any safety issues plant-wide.

Education And Qualifications

• Journeyman’s machine tool builder or equivalent experience (minimum of eight years’ experience), preferably in a rebuild capacity.
• License forklift operator.
• Basic knowledge of hydraulic, electric and pneumatic control systems.
• Ability to read component and assembly prints.
