Job summary

VMC Group and Companies is seeking a qualified Machine Operator to execute layout tasks, set up a variety of hand, power, and machine tools, and operate mechanized material handling equipment. The role includes training junior operators, maintaining equipment, and ensuring quality standards in a typical production setting.

The candidate should read shop drawings, perform basic math with measuring tools, and be capable of working independently while meeting production targets.

Description

This role involves setting up and operating various tools and equipment, performing layout and inspection tasks, maintaining inventory and machinery, and providing guidance to junior operators, all while ensuring quality standards and working independently.

Responsibilities Not Limited To:

• Performs layout duties for other operators
• Sets up various hand, power, and machine tools for self and other operators
• Operates mechanized material handling equipment
• Services and maintains equipment
• Maintains inventory levels for production aids
• Instructs "B" and "C" operators
• Performs in-process inspection and quality assurance tasks
• Operates without instruction
• Performs sundry duties as required and assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings
• Basic math knowledge which includes the use of measuring tools

Competency

• Ability to work in an environment that produces excellent quality and quantity work
• Ability to organize and prioritize jobs
• Ability to communicate - clearly and comprehensively

Requirements

• Able to push, carry, lift, and move materials up to 40 pounds.
• Able to walk across a production facility.

Work Environment

• Typical production environment.
• Willing and able to work additional hours as needed to ensure responsibilities are met.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Prior experience in machine operation and reading shop prints
• Familiar with power tools and hand tools
• Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus.
