Job summary

Mercor is seeking mechanical/CAD engineers for a research project with a leading AI lab. Work on real design workflows on your Mac to benchmark AI models and create training data.

Open to 2-3 years of experience or current postgrad students; part-time 10–20 hours/week; immediate start. Role emphasizes clear engineering explanations and strong communication in a collaborative, workload-light setting.

Qualifications

• Own a MacBook or Mac with Apple M-series/Intel, macOS 15+ required.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering with hands-on 3D modeling and drafting experience.
• Proficiency in Mac-compatible CAD tools; familiarity with GD&T is a plus.
• Pursuing Masters or 2-3 years of relevant experience + Bachelors from a top institution.
• Ability to clearly explain engineering decisions; strong written and verbal skills.

Responsibilities

• Complete and narrate real mechanical design and CAD tasks on a Mac.
• Create high-quality training data for advanced AI models.
• Work with a low-pressure internship-like environment; immediate start preferred.
