Job summary

Mount Carmel Health System in Westerville, OH is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our Primary Care team. The role supports providers by performing rooming, vitals, specimen collection, injections, EKGs, and patient communication within Ohio scope of practice.

The ideal candidate has 1–2 years medical office or clinical experience, completion of a MA program, CPR/BLS, and certification/registration preferred. Epic experience is a plus; schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:30am–4:00pm.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 1-2 years medical experience, or higher education in health sciences.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• Medical Assistant Certification or Registration preferred.
• 1-2 years medical assisting experience; or 2-3 years medical office experience.

Responsibilities

• Welcome and room patients: height, weight and vitals.
• Review medical history, chief complaints and gather information.
• Blood draws, injections and EKGs.
• Answer in basket messages, patient follow-up calls and messages.
• Using EPIC.

Position Purpose

• The Medical Assistant will function within the State of Ohio scope of practice to administer direct care to patients, functioning under the direction of the provider or registered nurse and practice manager, following all policies and procedures including Mount Carmel Health System, Mount Carmel Medical Group and department specific policies and procedures.

• Location: 495 Cooper Rd, Ste 311, Westerville , OH 43081
• Hours of office: Monday - Friday 7:30am - 4:00pm

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: Highschool Diploma or GED with 1-2 years Medical experience OR Graduate Bachelors or Associates in science/health degree BUT Graduate/Completion of a medical assistant program preferred, Medical Assistant Certification or Registration preferred, or Graduate of EMT, EMT-P, or Military Medical Corpsman training preferred.
• Licensure / Certification: MCMG Only: Nationally recognized Medical Assistant Certification or Registration, preferred.
• Experience: One to two years medical assisting experience preferred. In lieu of required education, two to three years of previous medical office experience is required.
• Current BLS/CPR, and must maintain current certification
