Job summary

A mental health support organization is seeking a Management Analyst I (Peer Support) to provide peer-based recovery support for individuals facing mental illness and addiction challenges. The ideal candidate will assist clients in developing essential skills and advocate for their needs. This role is onsite in New Castle, DE, and requires a High School diploma or GED, as well as direct personal experience with mental health and recovery. Weekend work is required, 1 day per week, 8 hours.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must have direct personal experience living with mental illness and/or addiction and recovery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide peer recovery support based on lived experience.
  • Support individuals transitioning between levels of care.
  • Assist clients in developing independent living and community skills.
  • Interview clients, families, and related parties to obtain case history.
  • Identify, document, and advocate for client needs and barriers.
  • Maintain an assigned caseload and provide ongoing support.
  • Prepare narrative reports and contact documentation.
  • Partner with family, providers, and support networks for recovery coordination.
  • Assist with benefit or service application forms when needed.
  • Conduct routine follow-up calls with clients.

Position Overview:

The Peer Support Specialist is an individual with lived experience with mental illness, addiction, co-occurring conditions, and/or recovery who supports others facing similar challenges. The role provides peer-based recovery support and transition assistance, helping individuals build skills and resources needed to live independently and productively in the community under the DHSS behavioral health program.
