  • Shift Hours: 8:00am – 8:30pm, Every Saturday and Sunday

  • Salary/Hourly Wage:
    • $18.00 Without DE Peer Certification
    • $21.00 With DE Peer Certification
  • Specialties / Licenses or Certifications: Successful completion of Peer Employment Training to obtain Certification as a Peer Support Specialist (required).
Summary of Job

The Peer Support Specialist I provides support and recovery training to individuals receiving services. The role also assists in implementing and creating a recovery environment and acts as an advocate for the needs and rights of every individual.

Responsibilities
  • Guest Care & Advocacy:
    • Provides peer support to engage individuals in a recovery partnership and assists in identifying participant’s hopes, dreams and goals.
    • Teaches recovery and life skills using recovery tools.
    • Models hope, personal responsibility and self‑advocacy, demonstrating how recovery goals can be met and belief in self maintained.
    • Assists in developing natural supports and community living.
    • Cultivates connectedness in the person’s life (self, others, environment, meaning and purpose).
  • Compliance & Risk Management:
    • Completes clinical documentation as required.
    • Keeps abreast of all federal and state regulations, laws, and Recovery Innovations policies and procedures as they change.
    • Understands and adheres to Recovery Innovations compliance standards, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policies.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration:
    • Coordinates with the individual’s clinical team and other supports to arrange services or resources to help the individual achieve their goals.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements
  • Education / Licenses:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Successful completion of Peer Employment Training to obtain Certification as a Peer Support Specialist.
  • Experience:
    • Lived experience requiring mental health and/or substance use services.
  • Skills:
    • Basic computer skills.
    • Ability to teach/train recovery information and tools.
    • Effective communication skills.
    • Must be able to pass de‑escalation training as defined by state requirements.
  • Driving Requirements:
    • If driving is required, must meet all requirements outlined in Recovery Innovations driving policy.
    • If not qualified to drive per policy, a Non‑Driver Attestation form must be signed.
  • Miscellaneous Requirements:
    • Applicants must be at least 18 years old unless state regulations specify otherwise.
    • Travel required based on business need.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality (HIPAA) and professionalism.
    • Second‑Chance Employer.
    • Must pass a seven‑year background check.
    • Must pass substance abuse testing and/or tuberculosis testing (if applicable).
    • Must obtain designated fingerprinting clearance in applicable states.
    • Must pass education verification check.
    • Must pass a three‑year motor vehicle report and meet minimum eligibility requirements for insurance carrier if driving is required.
Direct Service Competency Checklist

Must be completed as part of the new hire onboarding process.

Physical Demands

May include work close to the eyes, substantial wrist and finger motions, frequent sitting, standing, walking, and handling. Use of visual, hearing and color vision may be required. May lift up to twenty (20) pounds.

Work Environment

May work in an office environment or behavioral health facility. May have contact with agitated or confused individuals. Warmline Remote Peer Support Specialist will work remotely and not be in an office or facility.

ADDENDUM – Arizona
  • Education Requirements: Must be 21 years or older.
  • Must attend court hearings when listed as a witness on a petition.
ADDENDUM – California
  • Certification: Must obtain Certified Medi‑Cal Peer Support Specialist Certification (CMPSS) within thirty (30) days of hire.
  • Art‑related experience required to support the Art Works program, which incorporates creative expression into behavioral health services.
ADDENDUM – Louisiana
  • Must be 24 years or older.
ADDENDUM – North Carolina – Peer Navigator
  • Proof of valid and unrestricted Driver’s License.
  • Proof of up‑to‑date vaccination records, including childhood vaccinations; if not available, must provide proof prior to hire.
  • Provide proof of personal auto insurance or clearance to meet the authorized driving component; minimum coverage: $100,000 bodily injury and/or property damage.
ADDENDUM – Washington
  • Additional specified state registration for Registered Agency Affiliated Counselor (AAC).
