Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System in Boise is seeking a Medical Assistant to support the new Orthopedic Hand services at the Coughlin Orthopedics clinic on the Regional Medical Center campus. The role supports one Locums and one PRN Orthopedic Hand Surgeon, with a busy clinic focusing on hand-related conditions.

You will room patients, handle clinical documentation, assist with injections and wound care, casting, splinting, suture removal, and care coordination.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
• MA certification within 90 days from hire from Saint Alphonsus approved agencies (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, NRCMA, CMAC, NPCE MA).
• New Graduates: MA certificate of completion OR externship/MA experience in lieu of externship hours.

Position Summary & Highlights

The Coughlin Orthopedics Clinic is now hiring for a personable and efficient Medical Assistant to support our new Orthopedic Hand services at our clinic located on our Regional Medical Center campus in Boise! This MA position will support one Locums and one PRN Orthopedic Hand Surgeons for a new Orthopedic Hand practice located at the Coughlin Orthopedics clinic. At Saint Alphonsus, our experienced orthopedic surgeons work to provide effective, high-quality care so you can heal and get back to your normal activities. Common conditions treated at Hand services clinic include: carpel tunnel syndrome, broken bones (fractures), strains and sprains, cuts and injuries, sports-related injuries, work-related injuries, disease, deformities, and other conditions.

What You Will Do

• You will room patients, provide clinical documentation support, procedure preparation, and patient education, and assist with coordination of care.
• Assist with procedures, drawing up injections, and wound care.
• Also assist with casting, splinting, suture removal, and applying dressings.
• Complete surgery scheduling, prior authorizations, and referrals.

Work Schedule

40 hours/week, Mondays - Fridays, typically around the hours of 7:45am - 4:30pm, half-days on Fridays.

Shift start and end time may vary based on provider's schedule and clinic needs.

Minimum Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.
• MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies:
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
  • National Healthcare Association (CCMA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
  • National Association of Health Professionals (NRCMA)
  • American Medical Certification Association (CMAC)
  • National Phlebotomy Certification Examination (NPCE MA)
• New Graduates :
  • 1) MA certificate of completion required from an accredited program or school.
  • 2) Completion of either a 100-hour MA externship or 6 months MA experience in lieu of the externship hours even with MA certification.
• Medical Assistant with Experience :
  • 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.
• Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
• EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification. Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year. See each of the credentialing organization sites for additional details.
