Job Title: M365 - IT Application Engineer, Kuiper Production Operations

About Project Kuiper

Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. Its mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet globally, serving a wide range of customers including households, schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, especially in areas lacking reliable connectivity.

Position Overview

This role requires U.S. citizenship due to export control regulations. The Kuiper M365 Engineering team manages M365 productivity services, enabling secure, reliable, and highly-available collaboration tools. The engineer will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining M365 suite services within a GCC High Environment, ensuring security, reliability, troubleshooting issues, and providing engineering support.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement productivity applications in Kuiper environments using Infrastructure as Code.
  • Research, recommend, and deploy Microsoft 365 services such as Teams, SharePoint, Exchange, OneDrive, and Voice.
  • Administer M365 services, ensuring compliance with security principles like least privilege access, password management, and audit logging.
  • Drive secure collaboration initiatives with third-party vendors.
  • Collaborate with Amazon security teams to maintain compliance with security policies.
  • Engage stakeholders to meet or exceed security and operational requirements.
  • Create automated processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
  • Monitor and report on the health and effectiveness of productivity services.
  • Maintain documentation for the Microsoft 365 environment for both engineers and end-users.
Daily Activities

Participate in daily standups, attend operational and project meetings, and dedicate time to development, operations, and support tasks. This role offers growth within Amazon’s innovative programs, requiring autonomy, strong communication, and project management skills in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Team Overview

The team collaborates with Amazon Security and stakeholders to deliver a productive experience for Project Kuiper resources.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of hands-on systems engineering experience.
  • Experience with M365 services like Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange.
  • Knowledge of networking, storage, and operating systems fundamentals.
  • Experience with PowerShell or Python automation.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience configuring M365 with Desired State Configuration (DSC).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines in AWS.
  • Agile/Scrum methodology experience.
  • Administrative experience in networking, storage, and OS systems.
