Reporting Line

This position reports to Manager, Tech Services Management 2.

Role and Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for travel to various sites in the US (including offshore facilities) and outside the US, performing commissioning and service on motors and generators. This includes installations, system maintenance, troubleshooting, and conducting training.

The work model for this role is: remote. #LI-Remote

This role contributes to the Motion division in the US. Your main responsibilities will include:

  1. Completing installation wiring and/or providing technical direction to craft labor for installation of new motors and generators, and performing start-up and commissioning testing according to factory instructions and manuals.
  2. Facilitating mobilization, demolition, and installation activities, including equipment and tool shipping, scheduling, material and equipment procurement, and supervising craft labor on site.
  3. Assisting with maintenance and testing of generator excitation systems, protective relays, and other auxiliary equipment.
  4. Writing detailed trip reports describing system and device failures and actions taken, and reviewing system problems and solutions with the Design Engineering group.
  5. Traveling 80-90% to customer sites to oversee equipment installations, perform system startups or maintenance, provide customer maintenance instructions, repair equipment, and offer first-response troubleshooting via phone for emergency needs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree with 2 years of work experience, OR Associate degree with 5 years of experience, OR High school diploma with 12 years of experience.
  • Strong knowledge of electric machines theory, synchronous machines design and operation, including mechanical, electrical, and control aspects.
  • Knowledge of protection and operation principles for synchronous machines connected to power grids.
  • Installation engineering design, supervision, project control, vibration, alignment, and troubleshooting skills are a plus.
  • Ability to interpret electrical, connection, interconnection drawings, and schematics.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Project, Excel, PowerPoint, AutoCAD.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to qualify for and hold industry certifications related to safety (e.g., MSHA, OSHA) and background screening (e.g., TWIC, ISNetworld).

While base salary depends on qualifications and experience, this position offers between $79,800 and $148,200 annually plus overtime.
