Job summary

City of Englewood Brand seeks a Cultural/Fine Arts Instructor to guide older adults in painting, drawing, ceramics, weaving, and crafts. You will adapt curriculum to meet diverse abilities, prepare lessons, and foster a respectful, welcoming environment.

You will report to the Malley Recreation Supervisor, keep attendance records, and promote classes at community events. CPR & First Aid certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of subject areas in painting, drawing, ceramics, weaving, and crafts.
• Able to adapt curriculum for older adults and varying skill levels.
• Encourage a respectful environment and positive rapport with participants.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate thorough knowledge of subject areas and arrive prepared for lessons.
• Be prepared to teach using creative, interactive, and engaging teaching methods.
• Communicates in an enthusiastic, warm, and friendly demeanor.
• Must enjoy working with the older adult population, including varying levels of expertise.
• Maintains record of class attendance and reports to the Recreation Supervisor.
• Reports all concerns or rescheduling to the Recreation Supervisor.
• Attend occasional special events to promote classes and connect with community.
• Demonstrate ability to work with groups of people, communicate clearly and effectively and collaborate as part of a team.

Job description

Cultural/Fine Arts Instructors must have knowledge of subject matter (the art of painting, drawing, ceramics, weaving, needle arts, crafts, etc.) enough so to be skilled at teaching and guiding students through the process. Curriculum must be adaptable to meet the wants and needs of the older adult population. Instructor must be dependable, flexible, and able to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet the needs of participants of all levels and abilities. Instructor must encourage a respectful environment for all patrons and develop a positive rapport with patrons. Preference is given to instructors that have an interest in offering new classes periodically.

PHYSICAL EXERTION
