As an M&A and Accounting Policy Manager on Coinbase's Accounting team, you'll serve as the primary accounting resource across the full M&A and investment transaction lifecycle - from financial due diligence and purchase accounting through post-close integration. Reporting to the Director of Reporting and Technical Accounting Policy, you'll also evolve Coinbase's accounting policies across new and emerging business activities, applying deep US GAAP expertise in partnership with Legal, Corporate Development, Tax, and Controllership.

What you'll do:
  • Lead financial due diligence on target companies, including quality of earnings analysis, working capital assessments, and identification of accounting exposures and deal-relevant risks

  • Own end-to-end purchase accounting for completed acquisitions under ASC 805, including purchase price allocation, intangible asset recognition, goodwill calculation, and measurement period adjustments

  • Drive the accounting treatment for strategic investments under ASC 321, ASC 323, and ASC 810, including equity method and fair value option elections

  • Shape and evolve Coinbase's accounting policies through technical accounting memos on new and emerging products, bringing each analysis to closure in partnership with external auditors

  • Deliver original footnote disclosures, MD&A, and transaction-related disclosures for 10-Q and 10-K filings, and ensure related SOX controls are designed and operating effectively

  • Partner with Product, Legal, Tax, FP&A, Controllership, and Corporate Development to provide accounting expertise for new product launches, complex transactions, and post-close integration

Required Skills and Experience:
  • 9+ years of progressive accounting experience with a strong mix of Big 4 public accounting and industry experience; CPA required

  • Demonstrated breadth and depth of US GAAP knowledge, including M&A accounting (ASC 805), investment accounting (ASC 321, ASC 323), and consolidation (ASC 810)

  • Proven experience leading financial due diligence, including quality of earnings analysis, working capital assessment, and identification of accounting risks across live deal processes

  • Track record of managing external consultants and advisors across M&A workstreams, including scoping engagements, reviewing deliverables, and holding advisors to quality and timeline standards

  • Proven ability to draft technical accounting memos and original financial statement disclosures that clearly communicate complex conclusions to cross-functional stakeholders

  • Utilizes generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.
