Job description

Benchmark International is seeking an M&A Analyst – Quality Control with hands‑on experience preparing confidential information memorandums (CIMs) and analyzing company financials. This role reviews CIMs, financial analyses, teasers, and related deal preparation materials to ensure they are accurate, clear, consistent, and ready for buyer review.

The ideal candidate has prepared or substantially contributed to CIMs in an M&A, investment banking, business brokerage, or transaction advisory environment and can translate financial and operational information into a clear, compelling business narrative. Working with Operations leadership and Transaction Support teams across our five US offices, you will identify gaps, provide actionable feedback, and help improve the quality and consistency of deal materials and the processes used to prepare them.

Job Responsibilities
  • Conduct quality‑control reviews of CIMs and teasers, assessing business descriptions, financial presentation, consistency, completeness, and clarity.
  • Review financial statements, tax returns, and supporting schedules; check calculations, historical trends, financial adjustments, and consistency between financial data and written commentary.
  • Evaluate how each business is presented, including its products and services, customers, revenue model, operations, competitive position, and growth opportunities.
  • Identify unsupported claims, missing information, discrepancies, and unclear explanations; provide specific feedback and recommended revisions to Transaction Support teams.
  • Help refine CIM language and financial commentary so materials accurately explain the business and anticipate questions from prospective buyers.
  • Coordinate with Transaction Support and deal teams to clarify information, resolve review comments, and meet established review deadlines.
  • Provide practical guidance on financial analysis, business writing, CIM development, and Transaction Support best practices.
  • Track recurring quality issues, analyze relevant quality metrics, and recommend improvements to templates, review standards, and deal preparation processes.
  • Use Excel, Salesforce, and approved AI tools to support efficient reviews, accurate reporting, and consistent documentation.
  • Contribute practical examples and feedback to training resources and provide guidance to team members based on review findings.
  • Support Operations initiatives related to quality, data accuracy, reporting, and Transaction Support processes; perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience in M&A, investment banking, business brokerage, transaction advisory, or a comparable deal preparation role.
  • Hands‑on experience writing or substantially contributing to CIMs is required, including drafting business narratives and presenting financial information.
  • Ability to read and interpret financial statements, tax returns, and supporting financial documentation, with an understanding of revenue, profitability, EBITDA, and financial adjustments.
  • Strong business writing and editing skills, with the ability to explain complex financial and operational information clearly and accurately.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with the ability to analyze financial statements, understand business models and key performance drivers, and assess the accuracy and consistency of information presented in CIMs.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical judgment, including the ability to identify inconsistencies, question assumptions, and recognize missing information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas and financial data analysis, and working proficiency in Word and PowerPoint. Power BI experience a plus.
  • Ability to quickly understand businesses across different industries and evaluate how their operations and financial performance are described.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback, collaborate with multiple teams, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines independently.
  • Experience with Salesforce and AI‑enabled productivity tools is a plus.
  • Ability to travel by plane and automobile as business needs require.
  • No personal history of enforcement actions by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, FINRA, or any state securities regulatory body.
