Job summary

Y99000 General Electric Company is seeking a CNC Machine Operator who will work closely with an experienced machinist and support the shop's CNC operations while maintaining high production standards. Applicants should be currently enrolled in a vocational technical high school and have relevant hands-on machining experience.

The position offers hourly pay of $18.33, with eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, and retirement plans.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a vocational technical high school (at least midway through junior year).
  • Currently enrolled in a machinist or manufacturing program.
  • Relevant hands-on machining or manufacturing experience or coursework.
  • Ability to lift, move, and manipulate fixtures or hardware up to 25lbs.

Job description

Job Description Summary: You will work closely with an experienced machinist to support the shop’s CNC operations and maintain high production standards while following Lean manufacturing guidelines.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Work closely with an experienced machinist to set up and operate CNC mills and lathes.
  • Work with various materials such as castings, forgings, screw machine blanks, turret lathe blanks, sawed blanks and bar stock.
  • Perform set‑ups, including changing chuck jaws, tool holders, fixtures, boring bars, drills, and reamers.
  • Follow Lean manufacturing guidelines, including one‑piece flow, standard work, 6S, set‑up reduction, and wet process lines.
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards to ensure safe and efficient work areas, cleaning chips and keeping coolant and machine fluids off the shop floor.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a Vocational Technical High School (at least midway through junior year).
  • Currently enrolled in a machinist or manufacturing program.
  • Relevant hands‑on machining or manufacturing experience or coursework.
  • Ability to lift, move and manipulate fixtures or hardware up to 25lbs. with or without accommodations.

Compensation

Hourly pay of $18.33. Eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on a percentage of your base salary or commission according to the plan.
