Job summary

Blue Skies of Texas Senior Living Community seeks an LVN to provide nursing care under physician orders in a skilled nursing environment. You will manage admissions, discharges, and ensure accurate medication administration and documentation.

You will supervise Health Support Assistants, maintain a safe resident environment, and collaborate with families and the broader care team. This role requires Texas LVN licensure and CPR/AED certification, with CEUs to maintain licensure.

Qualifications

• Must be an LVN in the State of Texas and in good standing with the Board of Nursing.
• Current CPR and AED certifications, plus CEU requirements to maintain licensure.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and provides nursing care in accordance with physician orders and established standards.
• Manages pre-admission, admission, and discharge processes for residents.
• Oversees medication regime including orders, transcription, and inventory.
• Ensures medical supplies are accessible and requisitions needed items.
• Maintains a safe environment for residents.
• Supervises Health Support Assistants (HSA) and ensures quality care.
• Participates in Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Committees.
• Communicates with families, physicians, staff, and external agencies.
• Documents observations, treatments, and medications in the EMR.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

What you will do in this role:

• Supervises and provides nursing care in accordance with physician orders and in conformance with recognized nursing techniques and procedures, established standards, and administrative policies.
• Performs duties related to pre-admission, admission, and discharge of residents.
• Responsible for medication regime including acceptance of physician’s orders, transcribing orders, ordering medications, and ensuring medications are on hand.
• Ensures medical supplies are accessible; relates need for additional supplies in a timely manner.
• Maintains a safe environment for residents.
• Monitors and supervises Health Support Assistants (HSA), ensuring they are providing appropriate care for residents and meeting their needs.
• Participates in various Quality Assurance Performance Improvement Committees and their assigned tasks.
• Communicates with family members, providing them with information relating to the residents’ care and condition as well as with physicians, other staff, support services, and outside agencies.
• Records all pertinent information to include observations, treatments, and medications on resident Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and keeps Supervisor informed of any adverse changes in resident condition.
• Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Required: Must be an LVN in the State of Texas and in good standing with the Board of Nurse Examiners.
• Required: Possess current CPR, and AED certifications, as well as be current in attaining the Continuing Education Units (CEUs) necessary to meet requirements for licensure.
• Preferred: At least one year of previous experience in a long term care setting is highly desirable.
• Preferred: Some education beyond the minimum nursing licensure level is desirable, to include related training in supervision and infection control.
