Job summary

Blue Skies of Texas Senior Living Community is seeking a dedicated Resident Associate to help our residents with daily activities, medications, and daily living needs. You will support mobility, grooming, dining services, and safety checks.

Qualifications include a high school diploma and Texas Food Handlers certification; CPR/First Aid is preferred. This role offers full-time hours, benefits, and opportunities to grow within a compassionate, resident-centered team in San Antonio.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proof of Texas Food Handlers certification or complete within 60 days of hire.
  • CPR/First Aid certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) including transferring, mobility, bathing, grooming, dressing.
  • Assist with Instrumental ADL: housekeeping, dining, transportation coordination, mail delivery.
  • Assist with self-administration of medications and monitor supplies.
  • Observe residents and report changes to licensed staff.
  • Conduct rounds, monitor safety, document incidents and emergencies.
  • Support dining tasks and resident-centered activity programs.
  • Maintain certifications and participate in meetings and training.

Apply now and let's soar together at Blue Skies of Texas!As a Resident Associate, you will assist seniors who are functionally, physically, and or socially impaired and need 24–hour oversight. The Resident Associate’s role is to assist residents with those activities of daily living that they are unable to perform without help; fostering at all times residents’ independence and freedom of choice. All responsibilities will be conducted in a manner that is consistent with the philosophy of assisted living.What you will do in this role:Assists residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) to include: transferring, mobility, dressing and undressing (clothing should be clean and appropriate for the season), bathing, personal hygiene (shaving, dental hygiene, nail care, hair care, feet care), mobility devices (cane, walker, wheelchair, crutches, electric carts), and care of assistive devices such as eyeglasses, contact lenses, and hearing aids.Assists residents with Instrumental ADL to include: telephone use (calls, phone repairs, and hearing and vision adaptive devices), housekeeping (vacuuming, emptying trash, cleaning bathroom, bed making, and bed changes, and laundry), escorting and coordinating internal transportation needs, and mail delivery and personal correspondence.Assists residents with self-administration of medications, including monitoring of medication supplies and documentation.Assists residents with minor self-care needs to include assistance with toileting, incontinence care, Foley catheter care and Ostomy care.Observes and promptly reports changes in resident physical condition and cognitive or emotional status to the licensed nurse or Supervisor.Conducts resident rounds and room checks, monitors environmental safety hazards, and records incidents, errors, accidents, and resident-to-resident-related events.Assists in a variety of dining-related tasks to include escorting residents to dining room, setting up and cleaning tables, serving meals, and busing tables.Responsible for participating in and supporting the resident-centered activity program.Responds to and acts in accordance with established procedures in emergency or disaster situations.Follows up with appropriate staff, residents, or other individuals regarding reported complaints, problems, and concerns.Acts as ambassador and public relations representative for guests and other off-campus visitors.Maintains currency of all certifications required for employment.Orders and monitors appropriate use of resident care, office, and other needed supplies.Copies special paperwork or forms and prepares and maintains resident census records.Attends and participates in staff meetings, in–services, projects, and committees, as required.Assists with quality assurance programs and training new staff, when directed.Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.Qualifications:Required: High school diploma or equivalentRequired: Must show proof of successful completion and certification of a Texas Food Handlers Program or successfully complete within 60 days of hirePreferred: Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation, AED and First Aid certificationsPreferred: Prior experience working with seniors is desirableIn 1970, the first of our two campuses opened in San Antonio.
