Administrative Functions

1. Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.
2. Ensure compliance of all nursing personnel with established policies and procedures.
3. Review and update departmental policies, procedures, and manuals periodically.
4. Participate in shift planning, quality assurance programs, and facility inspections.
5. Assist in planning resident discharge plans and coordinate with other departments to ensure resident care.
6. Handle administrative tasks such as reporting, documentation, and maintaining records.
7. Maintain confidentiality of resident and facility information, and report any violations or unauthorized access.

Nursing Care Functions

1. Ensure rooms are ready for new admissions and greet residents upon arrival.
2. Participate in resident and family orientation, and coordinate diagnostic and therapeutic services.
3. Implement nursing objectives, supervise care, and ensure treatments are properly administered.
4. Monitor residents' conditions, carry out restorative programs, and ensure safety and sanitation standards.
5. Report changes in residents' conditions to physicians and family members as appropriate.

Staff Development and Safety

1. Participate in staff training, orientation, and continuing education programs.
2. Ensure safety protocols are followed, including infection control and proper equipment use.
3. Monitor staff performance, conduct evaluations, and address disciplinary issues fairly.

Equipment and Supply Management

1. Recommend and maintain adequate supplies and equipment.
2. Ensure proper operation and safety of nursing equipment.

Care Plan and Assessment

1. Review and update care plans regularly.
2. Ensure staff adherence to care plans and participate in resident assessments.
