Job summary

Job description

• Assist patients, staff, and physicians to maintain operational efficiency, customer service, and quality care
• Demonstrate clinical knowledge and skills within the scope of practice
• Perform and assist with tests and procedures
• Administer and document medications safely and accurately
• Prepare patients for examinations and procedures; obtain consent; prepare and label biopsies
• Document patient care according to protocol
• Collect patient information, assess urgency, route issues to physicians, return calls, and schedule appointments as needed
• Provide patient education and individualized teaching with physicians
• Apply universal precautions and infection-control policies
• Assist PSRs with scheduling and telephone-management issues
• Participate in clinical projects as directed
• Organize daily requirements, monitor patient flow and physician schedules, and complete daily tasks
• Manage telephone messages and troubleshoot problem calls
• Respond to changing circumstances and prioritize patient needs
• Respond to urgent and emergent situations and activate emergency procedures
• Maintain supplies, inventories, narcotic-control procedures, and prescription reconciliation
• Complete quality-assurance assignments and support quality initiatives including P4P, BMI, and DataMart
• Complete AEHR tasks and support new applications and policies
• Enter authorizations and schedule surgeries and procedures
• Assist in other departments and travel to other sites as business needs arise

Requirements

• California Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - CA Board of Vocational Nursing & Psychiatric Technicians - REQUIRED
• AHA Basic Life Support for Healthcare Professional (AHA BLS Healthcare) - American Heart Association - REQUIRED
• 1 Year LVN experience in related clinical area
• Ambulatory care experience
• ACLS Certification (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - American Heart Association - PREFERRED
• IV Certification (NPTA Sterile Product Certification) - Various-Employee provides certificate - PREFERRED
• Ability to type a minimum of 30 words per minute with 0-2 errors
• Knowledge of insurance, utilization review, scheduling requirements and front desk responsibilities
• Knowledge of equipment and information systems applications
• Ability to operate and maintain department equipment
• Demonstrated proficiency in clinical skills and nursing judgment
