Summary

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Licensed Practical Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) provides nursing care within the scope of licensure for assigned patients, following established standards and hospital policies.

Essential Functions

• Administers medication, performs treatments, and patient care responsibilities as prescribed, under supervision.
• Consults with and keeps the Registered Nurse informed about patient activities, symptoms, reactions, and condition changes.
• Provides pain management techniques and educates patients and families about pain management.
• Administers medication following the five rights within scope of practice.
• Assists with rehabilitation and treatment plans, updating and revising under RN supervision.
• Assists physicians with examinations, treatments, and procedures, performing technical and manual skills as directed.
• Treats patients and families with respect and dignity, addressing psychosocial, cultural, ethnic, and spiritual needs.
• Interacts professionally with patients and families, involving them in care planning.
• Assists with patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
• Identifies and addresses psychosocial needs, communicating with Social Services or Discharge Planners regarding in-hospital and post-discharge needs.

Pay Range

$24.48 - $35.70

Education

• Graduate of an accredited program for Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurses.

Licenses/Certifications

• Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse License.
• BCLS Certification.
• Intravenous Blood Certification (preferred).

Experience

• Minimum six months of prior experience in an acute care setting (preferred).
