Job summary

ScionHealth’s LA Float pool is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse across multiple hospital locations in California. The role includes administering medications, following care plans, and collaborating with the care team to ensure patient safety and comfort.

Ideal candidates will have an LVN license, BLS certification, and at least six months of acute care experience. English fluency and strong communication are required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited LVN program.
• Licensed Practical Nurse license.
• BLS certification required.
• IV therapy and blood certifications preferred.
• ACLS may be required in certain care areas.
• Minimum six months’ experience in an acute care setting preferred.
• Must read, write and speak fluent English.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse administers medications and performs treatments as prescribed.
• Consults with and keeps RN informed of patient status and changes.
• Provides pain management techniques and educates patients and families.
• Administers medication following the five rights of medication administration within scope of practice.
• Assists with rehabilitation and treatment per medical plan under RN supervision.
• Assists physicians with examinations and procedures as directed by RN.
• Treats patients and families with respect and dignity; addresses psychosocial needs.
• Interacts with patient/family and involves them in the plan of care.
• Interprets patient data to identify age-specific needs and required care.
• Performs all aspects of patient care to optimize safety and reduce errors.
