Job summary

First Physicians in Odessa, TX seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our busy walk-in/primary care team. You will prepare patients, assist providers, administer medications, injections, and IVs, and ensure patients leave informed and cared for.

The role requires graduation from an accredited LVN program, an active Texas LVN license, and current BLS CPR certification. You will work Monday–Friday with possible Saturdays in a fast-paced clinic.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited vocational nursing program.
• Active, unrestricted Texas LVN license.
• Current BLS (CPR) certification.
• Strong clinical skills, including injections and vital signs.
• Caring, professional, and patient with every patient.
• Organized and able to keep up with a busy clinic.

Responsibilities

• Room patients and take vital signs, height, weight, and medical history.
• Document visits accurately in Athena.
• Give medications, injections, and immunizations as ordered by the provider.
• Start peripheral IVs and give IV fluids and medications as ordered by the provider.
• Perform point-of-care tests such as glucose, urinalysis, strep, flu, and COVID.
• Draw blood and collect lab specimens.
• Assist providers with exams and minor procedures.
• Perform EKGs, wound care, and dressing changes.
• Help with DOT physicals and workers' compensation visits, including drug screens and required paperwork.
• Return patient calls as directed by providers.
• Help with prior authorizations and referrals as needed.
• Clean and stock exam rooms and maintain medical supplies.
• Follow infection control, safety, and HIPAA guidelines.
