Job summary

TTUHSC seeks a Licensed Vocational Nurse to provide patient care within a correctional facility, under the direction of a registered nurse as part of a managed health care team. The role focuses on safe, competent care and collaboration across departments.

Responsibilities include preparing equipment for examinations, assisting with procedures, documenting in EMR, monitoring patient status, and administering medications. Requires TX LVN license, CPR, and NCLEX-PN first attempt for new grads.

Qualifications

• Current Vocational Nurse License in Texas.
• Current CPR certification.
• New graduates must pass the NCLEX-PN on the first attempt.
• No experience required.

Responsibilities

• Reports data, identifies and reports alterations in patient responses to assist in the identification of problems and formulation of goals/outcomes.
• Prepares and operates necessary equipment and instruments for examinations, treatments and procedures.
• Assists with or performs exams and procedures and documents intervention in EMR.
• Monitors patient's medical status and reports changes in status to supervisor or provider.
• Represents nursing in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
• Administer or assist with the administration and documentation of medications.
• Responsible for completion of sick call process for unit in collaboration with all departments.
• Oversee completion is within Access to Care timeline.
