Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide direct nursing care within a correctional setting in Texas. You will assess and implement nursing plans, administer medications, and ensure patient safety.

The role requires adherence to medical plans, documentation, and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams. The position is located within a prison/jail environment; a security clearance and pre-employment drug screening are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Graduation from an LVN program and current Texas LVN license.
• No experience required.
• Current BLS-HP certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients.
• Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care.
• Perform admission, discharge and transfer procedures.
• Review and modify the care plan under supervision.
• Observe and document patient signs, symptoms and status.
• Deliver prescribed nursing interventions according to the plan.
• Notify staff of changes in patient status and coordinate care.
• Follow physician's orders and ensure patient safety.
• Maintain patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
• Safely administer medications and treatments.
• Prepare equipment for procedures and assist others.
• Adhere to infection control and aseptic techniques.
• Document nursing care in patient records.
• Follow internal controls and reporting structures.
• Perform related duties as required.
