Job summary

AHMC Seton Medical Center in Daly City is seeking a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to provide nursing care under the direction of the Registered Nurse, in compliance with the LVN Nurse Practice Act. The LVN will demonstrate respect for patients and maintain dignity for the patient and family unit.

Responsibilities include assessing conditions, documenting, participating in care planning and discharge planning, administering medications, IV therapy, and collaborating with the health care team.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Licensed Vocational Nursing.
  • Current California licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • Senior LVNs must complete IV therapy and pharmacology courses approved by the State Board; all LVNs must obtain IV certification within 6 months of hire.
  • Knowledge of the California Nursing Practice Act and the policies of AHMC Seton Medical Center.
  • Ability to understand and follow nursing service procedures, guidelines, and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Care for patients within the scope of licensed vocational nursing, following accredited program skills.
  • Assess and document patients’ initial and ongoing conditions.
  • Participate in patient interventions, care planning, and evaluation.
  • Plan and initiate patient teaching, including psychosocial interventions for patients and families.
  • Participate and document discharge planning from admission through hospital stay.
  • Participate in unit-based quality assurance activities.
  • Administer and monitor prescribed medications and signs of side effects.
  • Perform venipuncture, IV therapy, and related tasks in accordance with standard practice.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the patient record.
  • Pursue professional self‑development and continuing education.
  • Communicate effectively with the health‑care team, patients, and families.
  • Demonstrate leadership when directing other team members.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the RN.

Education

Graduation from an accredited School of Licensed Vocational Nursing
Current California licensure as a Licensed Vocational Nurse
Current Basic Life Support certification
IV therapy and pharmacology courses approved by the State Board; IV certification within 6 months of hire
Knowledge of the California Nursing Practice Act and AHMC Seton Medical Center policies
