Job summary

Socomi in Brookings, OR is seeking a dependable team member to join the Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL) production team. You will inspect and grade LVL pieces, feed and stack materials, and keep a clean, safe work area while meeting production goals.

The role requires willingness to learn, cross-train on equipment, and prior experience in wood products or manufacturing is preferred. Training on day shift; swing shift evenings; full benefit package.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, report equipment concerns.
  • Monitor material flow and assist with conveyor or machinery adjustments as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals.
  • Participate in basic maintenance checks and report equipment malfunctions.
  • Assist with end-of-shift cleanup and proper equipment shutdown procedures.

Job description

Department: Laminated Veneer Lumber (LVL)
Location: Pacific Wood Laminates, Brookings, OR
Schedule: 4 days a week, 10 hour shifts | Hiring for a spot on swing shift 3:30 PM – 2:00 AM | (Day shift for training - 5 AM - 3:30 PM)
Employment Type: Full-Time

This position plays a key role in the production of high-quality engineered wood products. Candidates must be team-oriented, detail-driven, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect and grade LVL pieces, identifying defects and ensuring quality standards are met.
  • Safely feed, sort, and stack materials to maintain consistent workflow on the production line.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, including removal of debris and reporting equipment concerns.
  • Monitor the flow of materials and assist with adjustments to conveyor or machinery as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and resolve issues.
  • Participate in basic maintenance checks and report any equipment malfunctions promptly.
  • Assist with end-of-shift cleanup and proper equipment shutdown procedures.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience working in a wood products or manufacturing environment.

Familiarity with operating production machinery is a plus, though not required.

Willingness to learn new tasks and cross-train on equipment.

Physical Requirements

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly.

Ability to stand, bend, twist, and perform repetitive motions throughout the shift.

Comfortable working in hot, cold, and noisy environments.

Must be able to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including hearing, eye, hand, and foot protection.
