Job summary

Urban Homes - Innovative Design for Kitchen & Home in New York City seeks a talented designer to manage projects from the initial client consultation through design development, technical drawings, ordering, and installation coordination.

The ideal candidate combines strong design ability with technical knowledge and sales skills, and works directly with homeowners, architects, interior designers, developers, and contractors to deliver luxury, highly functional spaces.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional kitchen design experience.
• Experience in a major showroom specializing in luxury cabinetry.
• Experience with premium European cabinetry rather than mass-market retailers.
• Strong knowledge of kitchen planning, cabinetry construction, materials, finishes, and installation requirements.
• Experience with European cabinetry systems is highly preferred.
• Experience with high-end residential clients, architects, interior designers, and contractors.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is required.
• Experience with SketchUp, rendering software, or similar design programs is a plus.
• Ability to read and understand architectural and construction drawings.
• Strong understanding of appliances, countertops, lighting, plumbing locations, and other cabinetry elements.
• Excellent presentation, communication, and client-management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proven sales experience in luxury kitchen showrooms is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects from initial client consultation through design development, technical drawings, ordering, and installation coordination.
• Collaborate with homeowners, architects, interior designers, developers, and contractors to realize project goals.
• Present design concepts and selections, and coordinate supplier and fabrication details.
