Job summary

South Washington County Schools seeks a Lunchroom Paraprofessional at Park High School to supervise students during the lunch period and uphold positive behavioral expectations. You will support emotional and physical safety, build positive relationships with students and staff, and assist in maintaining a respectful lunch environment.

The role requires a high school diploma, ability to supervise up to 150 students, and willingness to participate in district training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Competencies as required by State of Minnesota, Federal government, and/or District 833.
• Proven teamwork, confidentiality, and communication skills.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude and desire to work with youth in the 11-18 year age group.
• Demonstrates ability to establish guidelines of behavior and to enforce the consequences in a consistent manner.
• Demonstrates ability to supervise large groups of children up to 150.
• Models appropriate behavior, neat appearance, and proper grammar usage for all students.
• Ability to pass Paraprofessional fitness for duty tests.
• Ability to perform routine computer functions, including email, Internet navigation and Microsoft Word.
• Ability to lift and carry 10 pounds.
• Prompt, regular and reliable attendance.
• Communicates positively and respectfully with students, parents, co-workers, supervisors, and the community.

Responsibilities

• Enforce behavioral guidelines and consequences during lunch periods and hallways.
• Develop positive relationships with students to support learning.
• Work with kitchen and staff to maintain a positive work atmosphere.
• Wash lunchroom tables and assist with clean-up between lunch periods.
• Monitor and record student behavior as directed.
• Escort students to lunchroom, restrooms, and nurse's office as needed.
• Provide on-site supervision and conflict resolution as directed.
• Maintain boundaries and confidentiality with students, families, and staff.
• Demonstrate fairness, respect and equity for all students and staff.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
