Job summary

The Mansfield Township School District is seeking a part-time Cafeteria Aide (approximately 15 hours per week) to help maintain an orderly, safe and pleasant lunchroom environment and supervise students at mealtime. Requirements include a high school diploma, board-determined experience, and the ability to work with children and adults.

A criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal residency are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum experience as determined by the board.
• Ability to work successfully with children and adults and to perform assigned duties.
• Criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident status required.
• Residency in New Jersey or approved waiver or plan to obtain residency within one year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Supervises students in the cafeteria during meals.
• Maintains a system for orderly food purchase by pupils, disposal of food waste, return of trays and utensils.
• Sees that students are seated in assigned areas.
• Circulates among the tables during the mealtime so as to be available to children who need help or to resolve any minor problems that arise.
• Informs assigned teacher of any serious infractions of discipline rules by students.
• Ensures the cleanliness of tables and surrounding areas.
• Organizes groups for orderly dismissal from the cafeteria.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
