Qualifications

Job Summary

The Lunchroom Supervisor is responsible for preparing, serving, and cleaning up meals served in the school cafeteria. This position plays a key role in providing students with nutritious meals in a clean, safe and welcoming environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook food items adhering to the National School Lunch Program.
• Serve meals to students and staff in a timely and friendly manner.
• Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, steamers, mandoline and dishwashers.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, serving and dining areas.
• Follow health and safety guidelines, including proper food handling, storage, and temperature control.
• Wash all dishes, utensils, and equipment used in the preparation and service of food.
• Receive and store deliveries.
• Assist in the counting and recording of meals served and food used as directed by immediate supervisor.
• Support team members with other tasks as needed to ensure a smooth meal service for students.
• Assist in cleaning counters, tables, trays and furnishings in the lunchroom.
• Report any concerns to the Principal/Building Assistant and/or Food Service Administrator.
• Adhere to recommended serving portions as outlined in the National School Lunch Program.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor.
• Uphold and adhere to safety rules and policies of Bellwood School District 88.
• Supports the goals and objectives of the school district and follows all district policies.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the appropriate supervisor.
• Demonstrate the ability to attend work on a regular and routine basis to avoid disruption to district and department operations.
• Provide optimal customer service to all students, employees, parents, community members and stakeholders of the district.
• Assist with supervision of children on the playground ensuring appropriate play.
• Assist with supervision of students in the lunchroom ensuring appropriate behavior.

Physical Demands

Physically required to walk, stand frequently, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, lift and move up to 25 lbs, and adjust focus. May require working around hot equipment and exposure to cleaning chemicals.

Work Environment

May frequently be exposed to extreme cold or heat. Noise level is usually very loud. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of Board policy on evaluation of support staff.
