Job summary

Sylvania in Orland Park, IL seeks a part-time supervisor to support students in K-8 during lunch and recess. You will supervise and assist students in the lunchroom and playground, help with cleaning and distributing meals, and act as a mandated reporter under DCFS.

The role requires reliable, kind individuals who communicate clearly, follow directions, and build positive relationships with staff and students. Shift runs 9:45 a.m. - 1:20 p.m., with holidays and breaks as non-active days.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in working with school-age children.
• Good communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Able to problem-solve issues quickly.
• Successful experience supervising children grades K-8.
• Dependable.
• Possesses good judgement.
• First Aid Certification a plus.
• Ability to communicate and follow written and oral directions in a clear and concise manner.
• Ability to build strong relationships with coworkers.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and assist students in the lunchroom with continuous observation.
• Supervise and assist students on the playground with safety awareness.
• Assist team with cleaning the lunchroom.
• Assist team with distribution of lunches.
• Be a mandated reporter for abuse and neglect (DCFS).
• Be engaging, reliable, and kind.
• De-escalate conflict or an angry student situation.
• Employ medical and safety precautions/responses.
• May assist the principal with light clerical duties as assigned.
• May assist in the media center with non-clerical tasks.
• Other tasks as assigned by the principal.
• Use Red Rover Absent Management System to submit absences and request substitutes.
• Complete all mandatory training requirements (GCN, drills).
• Hours vary with school calendar; holidays/breaks are non-active working days.
