Job summary

Berkeley School District 87 at Whittier Primary School is seeking a Lunchroom Supervisor to help supervise students during lunchtime and maintain a pleasant, orderly cafeteria environment.

The role requires a High School Diploma and prior work with children; duties include cleaning tables, assisting with seating, and supporting safety procedures such as First Aid and district policies. This is an on-site role for 174 work days per year, paid at $15.00 per hour and not eligible for benefits.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students during lunchtime in the cafeteria and as needed in the gymnasium, playgrounds, hallways and bathrooms.
• Clean lunch tables daily using appropriate cleaning solutions and materials.
• Assist in seating students and provide assistance to students with handicaps.
• Encourage students to eat their lunches and organize the students for an orderly dismissal.
• Maintain a reasonable noise level so as not to disturb other classes and to be able to make announcements if necessary.
• Exhibit confidentiality in relation to students, parents and staff.
• Remain current in the use of First Aid, CPR, Heimlich Maneuver, EPI Pen and the AED (if required by Administration).
• Be knowledgeable of and implement the District Safety Plan.
• Ability to move tables; Frequent standing, walking and bending.

Position Goal: To assist in the supervision of the lunchroom/cafeteria therefore creating a pleasant, orderly and clean lunchroom atmosphere in which students can enjoy their food and companionship of friends

Rate of Pay: $15.00 per hour, position is not eligible for benefits

The Lunchroom Supervisor shall be responsible for the following duties and perform other duties as assigned by the administrator or their designee:

Superintendent/Board:

• Observe and adhere to all Board of Education policies and regulations, and all administrative rules and procedures
• Follow all State of Illinois codes relative to the requirements of the food service program including food allergies, FDA rules and Health Dept.

Building:

• Supervise students during lunchtime in the cafeteria and as needed/ directed in the gymnasium, playgrounds, hallways and bathrooms
• Clean lunch tables every day as needed using the appropriatecleaning solutions and materials
• Assist in seating students to the extent necessary
• Provide assistance to students with handicaps
• Encourage students to eat their lunches
• Organize the students for an orderly dismissal
• Maintain a reasonable noise/volume level so as not to disturb other classes and to be able to make announcements if necessary

Individual:

• Exhibit confidentiality in relation to students, parents and staff
• Remain current in the use of First Aid, CPR, Heimlich Maneuver, EPI Pen and the AED (if required by Administration)
• Be knowledgeable of and implement the District Safety Plan
