Applitrack is seeking a Lunch/Recess Paraprofessional for a part-time role. Hours are 10:30am to 2:30pm, with an hourly rate of $18.75–$19.75.

The paraprofessional will assist teachers in day-to-day classroom activities, provide individualized or small group support, and help implement IEP-driven strategies within a school setting. Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must hold a current paraprofessional license (or PEL) with the ISBE.
  • Maintain certification for Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the instructor with classroom setup and class preparations.
  • Provide individual and/or small group instruction under the direction of the classroom teacher.
  • Administer, score, and record student achievement and tests as required.
  • Assist students with organizational and study skills.
  • Develop and reinforce material skills based on IEPs.
  • Implement and monitor behavior plans outlined in the classroom/IEP.
  • Support students in unstructured settings and during recess/field trips.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff and act as a resource for substitutes.
  • Assist with attendance tracking, notebooks, papers, and testing as assigned.

Title: Lunch/Recess Paraprofessional

Part Time Position

Hours: 10:30am - 2:30pm

Rate: $18.75 - 19.75/hr

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must hold a current paraprofessional license (or PEL) with the ISBE.
  • Maintain certification for Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training as needed.

Successful completion of fingerprint based criminal background check (IL State Police and FBI), sex offender and violent youth offender screening, and employment physical.

REPORTS TO:

Director of Special Education, Building Principal and Assistant Principal

JOB GOAL:

To assist the teacher(s) with the day-to-day routine in the school setting assigned. An aide will be assigned to work in one of three settings: one on one assignment, small group assignment, or as a classroom aide. An aide will assist the teacher in achieving the specified teaching objectives for each class or given day.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists the instructor with classroom set-up and class preparations.
  • Provides individual and/or small group instruction in all facets of the curriculum (academic and social emotional) under the direction of the classroom teacher.
  • Administers, scores, and records such achievement, diagnostic tests and other documentation as required or as the teacher recommends for individual students.
  • Assists with the student development of organizational and study skills.
  • Assists the teacher in devising special strategies for reinforcing material skills based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • Implements and monitors a behavior management program outlined in the classroom and/or IEP.
  • Provides support in unstructured settings for students.
  • Guides and serves as a resource person to the students in a general education or special education setting.
  • Maintains effective communication with school staff.
  • Assists with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, recess and or plan periods, and field trips.
  • Assists students in the library or media center.
  • Checks notebooks, corrects papers, and supervises testing and make-up work as assigned by the teacher.
  • Checks and records student attendance when appropriate.
  • Assists students with their clothing as needed.
  • Assists students with lunch, snack, and cleanup routines if required.
  • Assists students with self-care and restroom routine as needed.li>
  • Alerts the teacher to any problems or special information about an individual student.
  • Serves as the chief source of information and help to any substitute teacher assigned in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Participates in training programs and meetings when requested by the principal/assistant principal.
  • Participates in building level and grade level Professional Development
  • Maintains regular attendance and punctuality to ensure teamwork and the completion of job duties essential to the daily operation of the school.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned by the principal/assistant principal and other district office administrators as designated by the superintendent.
  • Adheres to a professional code of ethics which includes confidentiality of school related matters and loyalty to the school district.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

9 months - school calendar year when students are in attendance and institute or SIP days as requested by the principal/assistant principal. Hourly rate approved by the Board of Education.

EVALUATION:

All non-certified employees receive a minimum of one written evaluation per year. The paraprofessional will be evaluated by the principal or assistant principal.
