Responsibilities

  • Work up to 2.5 hours each day, up to 4 days per week.
  • Supervise classes of 20+ students in grades K-5 and maintain order of class while at lunch and recess.
  • Manage safety and oversight of students during meal service.
  • Assist with set up, replenishment, and clean up of food buffet lines.
  • Assist with placing and organizing child lunch cards and ringing them through the point of sale computer system.
  • Communicate with students, school staff, and lead food service worker in a positive and professional manner utilizing appropriate customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Support health and safety of students: Assist with the cleanliness of the cafeteria: check the dining room for cleaned tables, chairs, and overall environment. Ensure students are seated at the correct allergen table.
  • Circulate throughout the cafeteria or in areas where meals are served to assist students. Encourage good table manners.
  • Walk students from classrooms to cafeteria and outdoor recess space. Supervise students outside at recess in all seasons. (temperature above 20°F)
  • Be aware of and comply with school rules and procedures. Participate in school training sessions, meetings, and scheduled cleaning days as requested.
  • Consistent, reliable and punctual attendance is essential for supervision and instruction of the students.
  • Responsible for implementing “other job related duties” as needed.

SUMMARY: The position provides supervision and assistance to students during school-based lunch time. Responsible for maintaining order during lunch and recess activities and providing support to Lead Food Service Worker. Responsible for monitoring student behavior during meal time and assisting with the cleanliness of the cafeteria, recycling, and the flow of meal service.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time. May need to assist with student safety needs.
  • Regularly required to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
