Job description

Job Title: Lunch Monitor

Haverhill Public Schools in Haverhill, MA, is seeking dedicated Lunch Monitors to supervise students during lunch periods and ensure a safe, respectful environment.

Line of Authority

Directly responsible to the Principal or his/her designee.

Statement of Duties

• Supervise children at lunch time, in the cafeteria and on school grounds, with possible extended hours.
• Encourage good table manners and appropriate behavior.
• Work shifts of 1-2 hours daily, with potential for extended hours depending on the school.
• Ensure the health, safety, and welfare of students in cafeterias and playgrounds.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, and dismissal, maintaining discipline according to school policies.
• Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline issues immediately to the appropriate school personnel.
• Assist students with trays, food, seating, and dismissal procedures.
• Help cafeteria staff with cleanup tasks as needed.
• Perform physical activities such as walking, standing, lifting up to 25 pounds, and assisting students with wheelchairs or mechanical devices.
• Handle complaints professionally, work cooperatively with others, and treat all students with dignity and respect.
• Perform additional supervisory duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
