Job summary

Ganahl Lumber Company in California is hiring a Lumberman to load and unload building materials, assist in yard operations, and support deliveries as needed.

You will read work orders, attach identifying tags to loads, stack materials in sheds and loading areas, and help maintain a safe, clean work environment while following all company policies and procedures.

Position requires physical stamina, ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and proficient use of basic hand and power tools as needed.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate material handling equipment including hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts.

LUMBERMAN
Job Summary:
The lumberman loads and unloads building materials and other incoming materials for delivery or storage. This position is occasionally referred to as a Load Builder. Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None

Primary Duties/ Responsibilities:

• Move loads, stock, or other materials to and from storage or production areas, loading areas, delivery vehicles, or by hand using material handling equipment.
• Attach identifying tags to loads, stock, or other materials.
• Read work orders or receive oral instructions to determine work assignments or operational needs.
• Stack loads in locations such as material sheds, storage or production areas, loading areas, delivery vehicles, or by hand using material handling equipment.
• Carry out general yard duties.
• Maintain proficiency in all organizational safe working policies and practices.
• Follows all organizational policies and procedures
• Maintains a safe and clean work environment.
• Reviews deliveries for quality and accuracy; reviews accompanying documents for accuracy
• Performs other related duties as assigned
• Adheres to company policies and work requirements.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• The ability to read, write, understand, and relay, written and verbal instructions.
• The ability to operate various hand and power tools when needed.
• The ability to operate various types of material handling equipment including hand trucks, pallet jacks, and forklifts when needed.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months of related experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

• This position requires frequent standing, walking, sitting, while working either indoors or outdoors.
• Must be in adequate physical condition to perform requirements such as mental, physical and manual dexterity, hand/grip strength, depth perception and any other physical attributes that enable the employee to perform the job safely according to all Company, Local, State, and Federal regulations and requirements
• Ability to lift/carry up to 75 pounds regularly
• Ability to push/pull up to 75 pounds regularly.
• Must wear prescribed personal protective equipment when handling material or operating equipment.

Other Requirements:

• Must be able to successfully pass pre-employment and required drug screens as requested.
• Must be able to successfully pass a Physical Capacity Assessments as requested.
