Job summary

Buchheit Inc. is seeking a Yard Foreman to lead the lumber yard team, supervise staff, and coordinate customer service and material movements. You will operate a forklift, manage loading and unloading, and ensure yard organization and safety.

The role requires prior supervisory experience in a lumber yard, forklift proficiency, and the ability to communicate clearly with customers and coworkers in a fast-paced retail setting. CDL is a plus, but not required.

Qualifications

• Prior lumber yard and supervisory experience is essential.
• Forklift experience is preferred.
• CDL preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and comprehend simple verbal or written instructions.
• Effectively communicate with customers, management, and co-workers.
• Demonstrate initiative and effective problem-solving skills within the scope of the position.
• Work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Direct the daily operations of the lumber yard team.
• Answer questions and direct customers to materials in the lumber yard.
• Load merchandise onto store delivery trucks or for transfer.
• Assist with unloading deliveries, as necessary.
• Remove lumber from units and place boards in rack by grade and length.
• Read work orders, invoices, or follow instructions to determine materials to move.
• Assist customers with loading purchased merchandise.
• Maintain appearance of the yard and racks in an orderly and clean manner.
• Operate forklift or industrial truck for loading or moving merchandise.
• Complete daily forklift inspections.
• Adhere to loss prevention, inventory control, and compliance procedures.
• Maintain safety awareness of hazards to employees or customers.
• Communicate customer issues to internal staff.
• Additional duties as assigned.
