Job summary

Cardinal Home Center is hiring a Yard Associate in Charlottesville, VA, to provide excellent customer service and support loading/unloading lumber and building materials. The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and maintaining an orderly yard environment.

Regular full-time position with a starting hourly wage between $16.00 and $19.00, plus benefits. Candidates should be able to lift up to 90 lbs, work Saturdays if needed, and follow safety procedures across yard operations.

Qualifications

• Provide prompt, friendly and attentive customer service.
• Communicate professionally with customers and team members.
• Willing to learn all areas of the yard and help train others.
• Excellent communication skills, high attention to detail, and ability to multi-task.
• Willingness to work flexible hours including some Saturdays.
• Knowledge and experience operating saws, forklifts, and banders.

Responsibilities

• Acknowledge ALL customers in the yard within a timely manner.
• Team oriented, willing to build and work with others.
• Assist customers with loading of lumber and other building materials.
• Restock lumber and building materials as needed, while communicating restock needs with the Yard Supervisor and Purchasing Manager.
• Unloading of incoming freight as needed.
• Learn and adhere to all safety rules and regulations when operating saws, forklifts, and other equipment.
