Townsend Building Supply, a division of Carter Lumber, is seeking a Yard Supervisor in a hybrid role that blends office tasks with active yard work. You will lead yard staff and support customer service while ensuring safe, efficient yard operations.

The role emphasizes employee management, equipment maintenance, inventory control, and dispatch support within a family-owned company with a long regional history.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience in customer service, preferably in a lumber yard.
• Dispatch experience is a plus.
• Ability to direct and train others effectively.
• Familiarity with building materials.
• Ability to be an effective team member and leader.
• Experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.

Responsibilities

• Employee management, hiring, communicating, and disciplining staff.
• Assist customers with their material selection and loading needs.
• Pull and stage materials for pickup and delivery.
• Structure shipping of orders and schedule dispatches.
• Maintain inventory in the yard with cycle counts and organization.
• Ensure yard policies for sales, inventory, and safety are followed.
• Maintain all equipment and schedule vehicle service.
