Job summary

Ace Hardware – Waycross is seeking a dependable Lumber Yard Associate for a part-time role. You’ll help customers load and find materials, keep the yard organized, and support contractors and DIY customers alike.

The schedule is a mix of weekdays and Saturdays, with shifts discussed at interview. You’ll operate a forklift, move materials, check shipments, and uphold safety protocols in a busy yard.

Qualifications

• Forklift experience preferred — willingness to complete forklift certification if not already certified
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong work ethic and reliability
• Ability to lift and move heavy materials on a regular basis
• Good communication skills and a customer-first attitude
• Prior experience in a lumber yard, hardware store, or building materials setting is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

• Load and unload lumber, building materials, and related products for customers and delivery trucks
• Operate a forklift to move and stack materials safely and efficiently
• Keep the lumber yard clean, organized, and well-stocked
• Assist customers with locating products and answering basic questions about lumber and building materials
• Receive and check in incoming shipments against purchase orders
• Perform physical tasks including lifting, carrying, and moving heavy materials (up to 50+ lbs regularly)
• Follow all safety protocols for yard operations and equipment use
• Support other departments as needed during busy periods

About the Role

We're looking for a dependable, hardworking Lumber Yard Associate to join our team at the Waycross store. This role is the backbone of our lumber and building materials department — helping customers load and find materials, keeping the yard organized, and supporting our contractors and DIY customers alike.
