Build Something Bigger Than a Desk

This is not a “maintain the status quo” role.

This is an opportunity for an experienced lumber professional to build, grow, and lead the lumber segment of a well-established, respected company. If you’ve ever wanted the autonomy to shape a market, develop contractor relationships, and truly own a lumber business line—this is that opportunity.

THE ROLE

The Lumber Sales Manager is responsible for driving lumber and building materials sales while ensuring the operational execution supports growth. This is a hands‑on leadership role that blends:

  • Outside sales & relationship building
  • Yard and delivery oversight
  • Vendor and inventory management

You’ll work closely with contractors, builders, and internal teams—owning the full lifecycle from first conversation to final delivery.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
  • Build and grow a strong contractor and builder network
  • Develop a consistent sales pipeline through proactive outreach and job site visits
  • Review plans, complete accurate take‑offs, and deliver competitive quotes
  • Identify upsell opportunities and product alternatives
  • Maintain follow‑up discipline to win and retain business
Operations & Yard Leadership
  • Ensure yard operations are aligned with sales priorities and efficiency
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and workload planning
  • Oversee (and occasionally support) equipment operation including forklifts and Moffetts
  • Maintain organization, safety, and workflow across yard operations
  • Monitor inventory levels, product movement, and margins
  • Partner with vendors on product selection, buybacks, and new opportunities
  • Stay ahead of seasonal demand trends and key SKUs
  • Recommend purchasing strategies based on real‑time market conditions
Business & Financial Ownership
  • Manage performance using sales data, margin, and P&L insights
  • Adjust pricing, purchasing, and sales strategies to drive profitability
  • Provide input on market trends and competitive positioning
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 5+ years of experience in lumber, building materials, or construction sales

  • Proven ability to work with vendors and negotiate product opportunities
  • Background in inventory management and purchasing decisions
  • Established contractor or builder relationships in your market
  • Deep understanding of lumber products, pricing, and seasonal demand
