Job summary

UFP Industries is seeking a production associate in California to grade and sort lumber per TP/SPIB standards, move materials, and stack/label items per customer specs. The role involves operating a staple gun, tagging materials, and following strict safety and quality procedures.

The position pays $20.00–$22.00 per hour, depending on experience, and offers comprehensive benefits. Candidates must be 18+, with strong math skills and the ability to work on-site in Thornton.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED is preferred but not required.
• Certification in lumber grading preferred, however non-certified graders will be considered if already in process of training and can be certified
• No minimum experience is required, but manufacturing or lumber experience is preferred
• 1-2 years of related experience in lumber grading is preferred
• Working knowledge of basic math preferred
• Must be at least 18 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Grade and sort softwood SPF and SYP per third party TP / SPIB inspection requirements.
• Move and secure lumber products and other materials according to instructions.
• Stack finished products according to predetermined bundle sizes and/or customer requirements.
• Label material by type, size and count, and following specifications.
• Apply individual tags to material before/after treating/production.
• Use a staple gun and troubleshoot equipment.
• Band, bundle and secure material, including attaching corner protectors and loading sticks.
• Follow instructions for stacking material properly and according to company policy and customer requirements.
• Ensure correct quantities and material are strapped, labeled before leaving the work area.
• Maintains accurate inventory of tags and reports any problems or discrepancies to supervisor.
• Records production on production sheets.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Assist other work areas moving material, loading and unloading material carts.
• Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings.

Compensation & Benefit Information

Hourly/Salary Pay Range: $20.00 - $22.00 an hour dependent on experience*

• pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of living

Bonus/Incentive Pay

Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, trip rates, and employee referral bonuses. A discretionary annual bonus based on Company and business unit performance may also be provided.
